TSN readies four CFL promotions
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based sports specialty channel TSN, in association with fast food chain Wendy's, began a contest promotion on July 1 called "Kick for a Million." Viewers can enter the contest at <http://www.tsn.ca/wendys> until Aug. 14. One winner will receive a trip for two to Toronto and the chance to kick a field goal for prizes during the halftime show of the Hamilton versus Toronto Canadian Football League game on Oct. 27. The winner will attempt to kick field goals from 20, 30, 40 and 50 yards. The prizes for successful kicks are, respectively, $1,000, a package of digital imaging products from Sony, a Sony high-definition home theatre system, and $1,000,000. TSN is also preparing three other promotions for the 2005 CFL season. The company will resume its "Fritos Fandemonium Ultimate Fan Search" for a fourth year. Viewers will be asked to demonstrate their status as the ultimate fan of their CFL team. Nine regional winners plus one random winner will receive trips to the Grey Cup game in Vancouver. This initiative will begin on Aug. 1. The "Purolator Tackle Hunger" promotion will also be continued this year. TSN personality Chris Schultz will be the spokesperson for the campaign. Whenever a quarterback is sacked during a CFL game aired by TSN, Purolator will donate the player's weight in food to the host city's local food bank. Finally, the channel will invite viewers to vote for the "Rogers Player of the Game" during the fourth quarter of each broadcast. Prizes will be distributed each game, and a grand prize winner will receive a trip to the Grey Cup. This promotion began on June 22. TSN will broadcast 53 regular season CFL games this year.
