Nikon begins holiday photography contest in Chatelaine

Camera company Nikon Canada of Mississauga has begun a promotion with Chatelaine magazine and its website chatelaine.com. The initiative is a photography contest called "Take Your Best Shot." The winning photograph will appear in a future Nikon ad in Chatelaine. The prizes also include a D70s digital camera outfit and a vacation for four at Delta Sun Peaks Resort in British Columbia. Entrants must submit photographs at <http://www.chatelaine.com/nikon> in any of three holiday seasons: Halloween Harvest, December Holidays or Springtime Celebrations. The winning pictures from each category will be posted on the site, where visitors will vote on the overall winner. Visitors who register to vote will be entered into a draw for one of two Coolpix 4600 digital cameras. "Having recently discovered research that states 85% of all consumer purchases are made by women, I was prompted to examine how the photography industry was advertising to women," said Gregory Flasch, national manager of advertising and communications at Nikon Canada. "Nikon Canada was not ignoring women with our advertising message; we were just not aggressively targeting them. That's when the idea of a contest and a partnership with Chatelaine was developed." Chatelaine is owned by Rogers Media, a division of Toronto-based Rogers Communications.
