TD Canada Trust sponsors shoreline cleanup

TD Canada Trust has signed up as the title sponsor of the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, an initiative of the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre. The program, which will now be called the TD Canada Trust Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, is a national environmental drive during which volunteers collect litter from the country's coasts, lakes and rivers. This year the cleanup will take place from Sept. 10 to 18. "We couldn't reach as many people as we do without the support of TD Canada Trust," said John Nightingale, president of the Vancouver Aquarium. "Our shared interest in conservation and the environment has allowed this program to grow into one of Canada's largest environmental action events." According to the aquarium, last year 64,998 kg of litter were removed from 1,100 km of shorelines during the cleanup.
