The BC Chapter of the American Marketing Association has named Vancity of Vancouver its 2005 Marketer of the Year. According to the association, the credit union is being recognized for its marketing programs that based the brand on the company's reputation. "Vancity has always generated positive feelings towards its brand, but by linking its brand strategy to its strong reputation, the organization has been able to turn those feelings into business results," said judging committee chair Janet Andersen. Agencies that have worked on Vancity marketing initiatives in recent years include Envisioning + Storytelling, design firm Karacters and TBWA. Last year the company broke its first television campaign in seven years, using the tagline "Expect Better." Other efforts have included direct marketing, street activities, print, radio, and promotional workers.
