KFC begins picnic promotion

Restaurant chain KFC Canada, based in Toronto, is readying a national campaign called "Picnic Now!" to promote a number of new menu items. The new items include ribs, breaded shrimp, fruit and vegetable dip trays, three kinds of salad with grilled chicken, a chicken fillet sandwich and several new side dishes. The $20 million campaign promoting these products will consist of print, radio and television advertising that will run from May to mid-July. The English Canada campaign is being handled by Young & Rubicam. The Quebec campaign is from Saint-Jacques Vallée Young & Rubicam. Promotional workers will also stage picnics at various Ontario locations such as beaches, parks, malls, fairs and festivals. The initiative also includes a website at <http://www.picnicnow.ca>.
