Canada Post promotes birthday alert service

Canada Post has undertaken a promotional effort for a new service called the "Never-Forget-a-Birthday-Alert." Users of the service will receive email alerts two weeks, one weeks and four days before each birthday they have listed with the service. During May, June and July, Canada Post will promote the service with in-store materials including posters, mobiles, pennants, floor decals and danglers. The creative will make use of birthday party motifs. In addition, Canada post will conduct a contest called the "Online Birthday Sweepstakes" from May 1 to July 31 to raise awareness of the service and encourage registrations. The winner will receive $1000 every year on his or her birthday for life. A direct mail piece will be distributed in major Canadian centres later this month. It will promote the birthday alert along with a number of other Canada Post services. Online advertising will also be used, as will a public relations campaign tied to Canada Day, the birthday of the nation. Advertising for Canada Post is handled by Publicis. Its public relations are done by Capital C.
