NEW FIRM LAUNCHES TATTOO ADVERTISING SERVICE

A new company called TatAd.com will officially open in Vancouver on Dec. 11, matching corporate sponsors with people willing to be tattooed with logos and company names. Eligible participants register with TatAd.com, which will line them up with advertisers based on demographic and psychographic factors. Each tattoo is the size of a silver dollar, according to the firm. "The idea came when I saw a guy from South Carolina auction off the back of his head on eBay for $7000 to an Internet service provider," said company president Mark Chadwick. The Web site has been operating for five weeks. Approximately 500 people in the US, Canada and Europe have signed up to be tattooed for payment. The first participants will receive tattoos from Thomas Lynch Fashions, Shocker Clothing and Orca Bay Suzuki at TatAd.com's launch party this weekend. The company has signed an agreement with SRJ Marketing of Florida to handle client matching in the US.
