VENTURE PREPARES TO MOVE INTO TORONTO

Calgary public relations agency Venture Communications will open an office in Toronto early next year. In preparation, the firm has appointed Alison Simpson managing director. She will handle the founding of the Toronto branch. She will also be responsible for the Venture offices in Calgary and Ottawa. Simpson was most recently president of Enterprise Advertising in Toronto. She has also worked at BBDO and MacLaren McCann. Venture plans to hire approximately additional 10 staff for the Toronto location. "Many marketing companies in Canada tend to expand into the west from Toronto," said Venture president Arlene Dickinson. "As a company that has its roots in Alberta, we are proud to be doing quite the opposite, in direct result of our steady growth and our increasing customers based in the East." Venture's clients include Unilever, Enmax, Keystone Industries, Subway, the Prairie Zone Toyota Dealers Association, American Management Systems, Cisco Systems and Unisys.
