OMNI TO AIR WORLD AIDS DAY CAMPAIGN IN 40 LANGUAGES
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Omni Television will begin airing a series of international public service announcements today called "The Three Amigos" as part of World AIDS day. The animated ads will be shown in 40 languages on Omni.1 and Omni.2. The campaign was conceived in South Africa and produced by a group of volunteers from several Ottawa and Toronto production and animation companies. Omni funded the creation of the translated versions. The ads feature three animated condoms called Shaft, Stretch and Dick as spokescharacters. The announcements began airing in South Africa on World AIDS day last year. "We are proud to help 'The Three Amigos' extend its reach beyond cultural and language barriers," said Madeline Ziniak, general manager of Omni. "By further enhancing access to 'The Three Amigos,' Omni's support will contribute to improved HIV/AIDS awareness and education among third language communities in Canada, and benefit countless others through worldwide distribution of the PSAs." Omni is owned by Rogers Communications.
