NEWALTA RETAINS AXMITH MCINTYRE WICHT

Newalta Income Fund of Calgary has hired Axmith McIntyre Wicht of Toronto to conduct a national advertising campaign in 2005. This will be the first ad campaign for the income trust, which specializes in recycling and reprocessing industrial by-products. The purpose of the campaign is to increase awareness of the Newalta brand. The company described it as the initial phase of a larger multi-year marketing effort that will include regional and local advertising over three or four years. Axmith McIntyre Wicht won the account on Nov. 12 in a review that examined seven firms from the Toronto area over a three-week period. According to the agency, Newalta based its decision on the firm's corporate advertising experience and its previous work in breaking brands nationally.
