TORONTO WINTER TOURISM CAMPAIGN PREPARED

The Government of Ontario will contribute $200,000 in funding for a marketing campaign in support of winter tourism in the Greater Toronto Area. The initiative, which will be aimed at residents of Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Ontario, will promote package deals consisting of accommodation, dinner and tickets to local attractions Olympic Spirit, First Night Toronto and Holiday Dreams. Olympic Spirit is an Olympic-themed entertainment complex. Holiday Dreams is an outdoor holiday theme park at Ontario Place. First Night Toronto is a New Year's festival of local artisans and cultural events that will run from Dec. 29 to Dec. 31. The campaign will be a joint effort by these three attractions and the Ontario Ministry of Tourism and Recreation, Via Rail, the Delta Chelsea Hotel and Cadillac Fairview. "By investing in tourism we are creating prosperity for people, promoting economic growth and building strong communities," said Tourism and recreation Minister Jim Bradley. "By funding partnerships, we can continue to build on Toronto's reputation as a tourist destination for all seasons."
