ROGERS WIRELESS TO SPONSOR PHONES-FOR-FOOD PROGRAM
By Adnews Staff
Rogers Wireless has become the national wireless sponsor of the Canadian Association of Food Banks Phones-For-Food program. The initiative recycles used wireless phones to generate funds for food banks. Other national sponsors of the program include Petro-Canada and Purolator. As part of its sponsorship, Rogers will collect old wireless phones at their distribution points nationally, including Rogers Plus stores, RadioShack stores and Rogers Wireless dealer locations. The collected phones or their usable parts will be sold to re-manufacturers, with the proceeds going to the Canadian Association of Food Banks. The Phones-For-Food program is an extension of the thINK Food program which began recycling used inkjet printer cartridges in 2001.
