VANCITY BEGINS FILM FESTIVAL CAMPAIGN

Grey Worldwide Northwest of Vancouver has created three cinema commercials and two posters for VanCity's sponsorship of the Vancouver International Film Festival. Each of the ads takes the form of a movie trailer for a big-budget commercial film, which is then heckled by a member of the audience. The trailer transforms into that of an art film. The posters show a screenwriter's notepad listing ideas for making a commercial film into an art film. Marc Stoiber, vice-president and creative director at Grey Worldwide Northwest, said the agency "had fun using the common stereotypes of art films versus big budget movies to take a lighthearted approach to the Film Festival sponsorship commercials." The Vancouver International Film Festival will run from Sept. 23 to Oct. 8.
