VANCOUVER FRINGE FESTIVAL BEGINS CAMPAIGN

Wasserman & Partners has created a new ad campaign to promote the upcoming season of the Vancouver Fringe Festival. The 600-show theatre event, now in its twentieth year, will take place from Sept. 9 to Sept. 19. The campaign consists of print ads, outdoor ads, posters and postcards. It uses the tagline, "You never know what to expect." The creative, described by the agency as darkly humorous, depicts instances of neglect owing to interest in the festival. One ad presents the skeleton of a forgotten dog tied in a backyard. Another execution takes the form of a class photograph with only one student in it. The third ad shows a burglar on a security monitor in the absence of the guard. The final ad depicts several bodies floating in a swimming pool near an empty lifeguard chair.
