CANADIAN GOVERNMENT SUSPENDS ALL NEW ADVERTISING
By Adnews Staff
The Government of Canada has suspended all new advertising until June 1. According to Stephen Owen, Minister of Public Works and Government Services, the moratorium on new advertising campaigns will be in place until a new agency of record is selected and new procurement tools are made available to government departments. Not all advertising is affected by the moratorium. Emergency ads, ongoing campaigns central to government operations and public notices will continue to run. Owen also said the government will reduce its media buying by 15% for the next three years. That reduction is expected to save $12 million each year.
