WYETH BEGINS PREVNAR AWARENESS EFFORT

Markham, ON-based pharmaceutical company Wyeth Canada is launching a consumer awareness campaign across Canada this week. Radio and print executions aim to educate parents about pneumococcal disease, an infection that can cause meningitis, pneumonia and ear and blood infections among children and infants. The ads also feature Wyeth's Prevnar vaccination which protects against pneumococcal disease. The campaign's creative features a four-year-old girl named Sara talking about her older brother who got sick. The tagline is "Don't hesitate. Vaccinate." A 30-second radio spot is airing in both English and French on 35 radio stations across Canada. Print advertising is appearing in daily newspapers nationwide. The campaign was created by Anderson DDB Health & Lifestyle of Toronto and is running until the end of the month. Public relations are being handled by National Public Relations of Toronto except for in Quebec where public relations are being handled by GGA Communications of Montreal.
