SEARCH FOR FERRY NAME BEGINS

Canadian American Transportation Systems has begun searching for a name for the Rochester-Toronto high-speed ferry. The winning name will be used for the marketing of the ship. The ferry will go into service in May, travelling across Lake Ontario up to six times a day. The name contest will run until Feb. 6. Residents of Ontario and New York State can enter through a Web site at <http://www.nametheferry.com> or by mail. The winner will receive a lifetime pass for two aboard the ferry, a plaque on the vehicle and a weekend for two in either Toronto or Rochester. If the winner is a student, a $2,500 donation will be made to that school. Ten secondary prizes of Fast Ferry gift certificates will also be distributed. The winners of a random draw on Feb. 11 will receive prizes including a plasma screen TV, a home computer, a home theatre system and digital cameras. A multimedia ad campaign from Echo Advertising of Toronto is promoting the contest. The television, radio and print ads use the tagline, "Wanted: A ferry good name." A public relations campaign from Cohn & Wolfe of Toronto has also begun.
