COMPETITION BUREAU CONTACTS FORZANI GROUP

The Competition Bureau has contacted Calgary-based sporting goods retailer Forzani Group about its advertising. The Competition Bureau promotes and maintains fair competition in Canada. It administers and enforces the Competition Act, the Consumer Packaging and Labelling Act, the Textile Labelling Act and the Precious Metals Marking Act. Officials at Forzani Group could not be reached for details about the advertising in question. In a statement the company said it is "committed to compliance with the advertising provisions of the Competition Act and will endeavour to satisfactorily resolve this matter as quickly as possible." Forzani's retail chains include Sport Chek, Coast Mountain Sports, Sport Mart, Sports Experts, Intersport, RnR, Econosports and Atmosphere.
