HEALTH CANADA RERUNS SECOND-HAND SMOKE COMMERCIAL

Health Canada has resumed airing a television commercial on second-hand smoke. The ad, created by BCP of Montreal, first ran last fall. It features Heather Crowe, a non-smoking woman who worked in the hospitality industry and now has lung cancer. According to Health Canada, a new commercial will begin running in Cineplex Odeon and Famous Players theatres in December. In related news, Health Canada has released new ads in its ongoing campaign aimed at smokers who want to quit. That effort, also created by BCP, will follow two characters called Bob and Martin for two years at they quit smoking. The campaign began earlier this year. Bob appears in the English-language ads and Martin in the French-language ads. The latest creative began airing on television in mid-September and will continue until the end of October.
