CTV TO SHUTTER WTSN

CTV Specialty Television will close down its digital channel dedicated to coverage of women's sports, WTSN, on Sept. 30. "A combination of lower-than-expected growth and limited access to advertising revenue led to this unfortunate decision, along with the high cost of running a sports service," said CTV president Rick Brace. WTSN debuted in 2000. Some of the channel's programming and staff will be moved to other CTV channels. Eleven staff positions are affected by the closure. Five will be reassigned within the company. According to CTV, "opportunities to place the remaining six positions are being sought."
