NEW GAP TV CAMPAIGN BEGINS

San Francisco-based retailer Gap broke its fall television campaign, called "A New Groove, A New Jean," yesterday. In the series of 30- and 60-second commercials, musicians Madonna and Missy Elliott promote the chain's cord jeans for women. Madonna wears a pair of low rise cropped cords and a ribbed white tank top. Missy Elliott wears a pair of low rise boot cut cords and a matching jacket. The ads make use of remixed songs from both performers. A CD containing this music will be given to customers who purchase cords or jeans. Advertising will run in Canada until Aug. 19 and in the U.S. until Aug. 31. The campaign, created by Laird+Partners of New York, will also run in the United Kingdom from Aug. 20 to Sept. 16 and in Japan from Aug. 21 to Sept. 10.
