Montreal-based Air Canada said it will begin a new onboard restaurant service program on select domestic flights beginning Aug. 1. The airline has teamed up with Cara Operations Swiss Chalet, Montana's Cookhouse, Milestone's and Kelsey restaurants to launch the program which will replace current complimentary meal and snack services with "value-priced" hot and cold meals and snacks. The onboard service will initially be available on flights between one hour and 45 minutes and three hours and 30 minutes between Toronto and Charlottetown, Halifax, Thunder Bay, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Regina, Saint John, Fredericton, Deer Lake and Gander. The service will also extend to flights between Montreal and St. John's. Snacks are priced at $7-8 while meals will cost $7-12. Non-alcoholic beverage service in hospitality class and meal and beverage service in executive class remains complimentary as does snack and meal service on all of Air Canada's other domestic flights, the airline said.
