CORUS PULLS PLUG ON EDGE TV

Toronto-based Corus Entertainment will drop digital television channel Edge TV this summer. The channel, which airs rock and alternative music videos, will discontinue operations around mid-July, according to Kerry Morgan, vice-president of communications for Corus Entertainment. "After nearly two years of operation, the challenges of obtaining sufficient cable and satellite carriage for Edge TV remains a significant obstacle to the long term success of the service," said Paul Robertson, president of Corus Television and Nelvana. Edge TV is one of 40 digital channels that launched in September 2001. Corus will continue to operate its alternative rock radio stations CFOX in Vancouver and 102.1 The Edge in Toronto. Corus has formed a new partnership between these two stations and Chum Television's "MuchLOUD" music video service.
