TACO BELL TO PAY FOR CHIHUAHUA CHARACTER

Yum Brands of Louisville, KY has been ordered to pay US$30 million to two men, Joseph Shields and Thomas Rinks, who claim they created the Chihuahua character that appeared in advertising for Taco Bell, according to reports on Adage.com and Adweek.com. Yum Brands claims Taco Bell's advertising agency, TBWA\Chiat\Day of Playa del Ray, CA, created the dog. Yum Brands plans to appeal the verdict. If unsuccessful, the company intends to seek reimbursement from its insurance companies and TBWA\Chiat\Day, the reports said.
