SYMPATICO.CA BREAKS ONLINE TAX FILING CAMPAIGN
By Adnews Staff
Web publisher Sympatico.ca broke a campaign on Monday for its online tax filing service, which is operated in conjunction with UFile. The campaign, part of a general re-launch of the site's personal finance area, consists of print, online and flier advertising, plus a contest, all created in-house. Until the tax deadline of April 30, weekly print ads will run in Metro Today and the Toronto Star. A tax strategies supplement will be included with the Globe and Mail on March 26. The online exposure will include banner ads on the Sympatico.ca homepage and keyword advertising on Sympatico.ca and Google. Door hangers will be distributed by Canada Post to 500,000 households in Toronto, Ottawa, Hamilton and Kitchener, ON. The creative, which incorporates a countdown timer, is intended to be a "friendly reminder" of the approaching deadline and to suggest that filing taxes does not have to be unpleasant. The contest, called "Extreme Refund," is hosted at the Sympatico.ca Tax page. Five winners will receive $1,000 each, while the grand prize winner will receive $5,000.
