KFC PROMOTES POPCORN SHAKERS

The 493 KFC restaurants in Canada have added a new item to their menus for a limited time called Popcorn Shakers. The product consists of Popcorn Chicken served in a cup with a dome lid and a straw filled with either BBQ or All Dressed seasoning. Customers sprinkle the seasoning on the chicken, cover the cup and shake it to coat the pieces. The chain is promoting Popcorn Shakers with national television advertising that will run until Feb. 2, a two-week national radio campaign that will begin next week, print advertising in some markets and in-restaurant materials. The advertising and point-of-purchase materials were created by Ogilvy & Mather of Toronto as one of its last projects for KFC. In December priszm brandz, owner of the chain, appointed Young & Rubicam the national advertising agency of record for its KFC, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut restaurants.
