BIG ROCK MOVES EAST
By Adnews Staff
Big Rock Brewery of Calgary will be pouring some of its brew in Ontario in mid-March. Its Traditional, Grasshopper and Warthog ales will be shipped east to beer stores, bars and restaurants. Point-of-sale advertising created in-house will support the Ontario launch. Other brands may follow depending on how well the first three do. Big Rock also makes Porter, Classical, McNally's and Pale Ale. Last September, Big Rock signed up with G. Raden & Son of Seattle, Washington to increase distribution in the U.S. market. Big Rock plans to be in 44 states. Currently it is in the four Western Canadian provinces and 13 U.S. states. In the three months ending Dec. 31, 1995, sales for the company were $4,921,384, versus $5,224,724 during the same period in 1994. Net income was $384,497, compared to $430,048 in 1994. The results were below expectations because of delays in finalizing new distribution and state approvals in the U.S.
