MICROCELL CUTS 149 JOBS

Microcell Telecommunications, which provides cellular telephone services under the Fido name, is cutting 149 administrative and support services jobs nationally. The cuts, which represent 6% of the company's workforce, are part of an ongoing restructuring process that began in August. While most of the layoffs are effective immediately, some will take place in the second quarter of 2003, according to Microcell president and CEO Andre Tremblay.
