TORONTO TRANSIT COMMISSION REFUSES JEAN MACHINE AD
By Adnews Staff
The Toronto Transit Commission has refused to run an ad for Toronto-based Jean Machine in its subway cars. The creative shows two women dressing a snowman. One woman's hand is placed on the zipper of the snowman's jeans. According to the TTC, the ad too explicit. A higher commission made the final decision when the TTC's ad review committee split on the approval of the poster. The campaign, which began last week, is running in TTC subway stations and on transit shelters around the province. A modified version of the ad will run in subway cars, while the original creative will run on transit shelters, in Jean Machine stores and on the chain's Web site. "We saw nothing offensive about the placement of her hand," said Jason Perlman, marketing manger of Jean Machine. "Apparently the anatomy of a snowman is much more evolved than we had assumed." The campaign was created by The Brainstorm Group of Toronto.
