Mississauga-based Microsoft Canada has begun a national promotion for its video game console involving a touring group called the Xbox Holiday Game Force. The promotional workers will hold approximately 200 events at retail locations between Nov. 21 and Dec. 23 intended to allow consumers to try out the console and its new games. Participating retailers include Toys 'R' Us, Future Shop, Walmart, EB Games, Best Buy and BlockBuster. A 40-foot bus called Xbox One will accompany the Game Force members to some locations. These members will distribute scratch and win tickets to shoppers that may award them passes to upcoming Alliance Atlantis films. There is also an online contest component in which the grand prize is an RCA television with surround sound speakers, an Xbox and a collection of games, accessories and apparel. The second prize package consists of a Burton snowboard with a bag and apparel. "The Xbox Holiday Game Force is there to showcase our hottest holiday titles, reveal the power of the Xbox and talk about our newly launched Xbox Live service," said Ryan Mugford, group marketing manager for Xbox Canada. "We're excited about introducing more Canadians to the Xbox experience." Public relations for the company are handled by High Road Communications of Toronto.
