PASSAGE: JERRY GOODIS

Folk singer and ad veteran Jerry Goodis died of cancer on Friday morning according to media reports. Goodis was a founding member of the music group The Travellers. In 1956 he co-founded Goodis, Goldberg, Soren, the agency behind the slogans, "At Speedy, You're a Somebody" and "Harvey's Makes Your Hamburger a Beautiful Thing." Goodis, Goldberg, Soren later merged with MacLaren Intermart. In the 1970s Goodis worked on former prime minister Pierre Trudeau's election campaign. He formed the Jerry Goodis Education Group in 1985 and in 1995 was appointed academic, corporate and media affairs director at the Forum for International Trade Training. Goodis is survived by his wife Joyce, his children Leslie, David and Noah and four grandchildren. Goodis was 73 years old.
