By Adnews Staff
Discovery Channel Canada has signed four new sponsors for its annual adventure race called "Eco-Challenge." This year's 11-day race begins today in Fiji. Eighty international teams will compete. Subaru, Advil and Schick will each sponsor a race team. They will also be included in a marketing package surrounding the broadcast of the race. Team Subaru Canada and Team Advil come from British Columbia. Team Schick Xtreme 3 comes from Toronto. Each team will display its sponsor's name and logo. The broadcast marketing package will include sponsorship of programming, exposure in Eco-Challenge commercials and external advertising as well as branding on related stories on the <http://www.exn.ca> Web site. In a separate deal, Polysporin will sponsor the network's coverage of the Eco-Challenge's medical and rescue squad called the "Thunderbirds." That coverage will appear in a 30-minute documentary. The documentary and Eco-Challenge Fiji will air on Discovery Channel in April 2003.
