BBDO CANADA TO MERGE LANYON PHILLIPS INTO DDB GROUP, TBWA WORLDWIDE

On Jan. 1, 2003 BBDO Canada will merge the operations and clients of Vancouver-based Lanyon Phillips Communications into the Vancouver offices of DDB Group Canada and TBWA Worldwide. BBDO, DDB Group and TBWA Worldwide are all owned by New York-based holding company Omnicom Group. Following the merger, the operations and clients of Lanyon Phillips will be managed by Palmer Jarvis DDB or TBWA's Bryant, Fulton and Shee, both of Vancouver. David Martin, senior vice-president and creative director of Lanyon Phillips, will join Bryant, Fulton and Shee as managing director and chief creative officer. Peter Lanyon, chairman and chief creative officer of Lanyon Phillips, will join DDB Group as a senior strategic consultant. Chuck Phillips, president and chief executive officer of Lanyon Phillips, will take time off when his contract concludes at the end of the year. Clients of Lanyon Phillips include BC Hydro, Boston Pizza, BC Hot House Foods and the Vancouver Whistler 2010 Bid Corp. The details of the merger are expected to be finalized by the end of the year.
