VIACOM-DECAUX WINS VANCOUVER TRANSIT SHELTER CONTRACT

The City of Vancouver has awarded a 20-year transit shelter and street furniture advertising contract to Viacom-Decaux, a partnership Viacom Outdoor Canada of Toronto and JCDecaux of New York. The contract will go into effect next year. Viacom-Decaux will install 900 bus shelters, 235 bike lockers, 104 news racks, 210 map stands, 1,400 litterbins and other street furniture. Maintenance of the equipment will be done by Viacom-JCDecaux. Advertising will be sold on some of the equipment. This revenue will be shared with the city. Free public service advertising will be offered on 90 bus shelters. The incumbent, Pattison Outdoor, held the contract for 26 years.
