RONZONI FOODS, MATTEL BEGIN TELETOON PROMOTIONS
By Adnews Staff
Ronzoni Foods Canada and Teletoon have begun a "watch and win" contest to promote Ronzoni's new Catelli Adventure Pasta and Teletoon's new fall programs. A block of programming called the "Catelli Cartoon Adventure" will begin airing on Sept. 2. During the one-hour block, which begins at 5:30 p.m., viewers will see the first episodes of several new Teletoon programs including "Kaput & Zosky," "Olliver's Adventures," "Phantom Investigators" and "Fred the Caveman." A 30-second ad will instruct viewers to watch for sea creature and alien pasta shapes that will appear on-screen with a toll-free phone number during the block. Fifty callers from eastern Canada and fifty callers from western Canada will be entered to win a trip to either Florida's Discovery Cove or Cape Canaveral. A daily prize pack containing one case of Catelli Adventure Pasta, a Lego Alpha Team Command Sub set and a Boston Pizza or Pacini Restaurant coupon will also be awarded. In addition to creating the contest and TV commercial, Teletoon has added a Catelli microsite to its Web site. During the promotion the microsite will contain a Catelli game. When the contest ends the microsite will list the names of the winners.
Mattel will use Teletoon to introduce its new Barbie Fashion Avenue collection during Teletoon's Fashion Festival this Sunday. The two-hour programming block will show four half-hour episodes of Teletoon's "Sabrina, The Animated Series," "Braceface," "What About Mimi" and "Angela Anaconda" programs. A 30-second commercial will run from Aug. 19 to 25 to promote the Fashion Festival. Four 10-second billboards will air during the two-hour block to communicate that the broadcast is, "brought to you by Mattel's Barbie Fashion Avenue collection." Earlier this summer Mattel used Teletoon for an online contest to promote the 2002 Max Steel toy collection. The contest was the third time the toy manufacturer and the animation station had promoted the Max Steel line.
