MOLSON RELEASES NEW CANADIAN AD
By Adnews Staff
Montreal-based Molson released a new "I Am Canadian" television commercial yesterday. Called "No Service," the 30-second ad is set to the song "I'm on My Way" by the Proclaimers. In it, a man arrives at home to find that his friends have finished his case of Molson Canadian. The man begins a trip to the beer store which involved swimming across a lake, hiking through woods and crossing a creek. As he travels the man is accompanied by two additional men who sing "I'm on My Way." The man arrives at the beer store barefoot and shirtless man. A sign in the store window reads, "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service." The man takes the shoes and shirt of one singing man, buys some beer and returns home. The commercial is a follow up to "Myles," which aired last fall. That ad was set to the Proclaimers song "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)." In it a man crosses a stream and a mountain peak to buy a case of Molson Canadian, also accompanied by two singing men. After beginning the trip home, the man smashes the case of beer and has to go back again. The new ad will run in English Canada until Aug. 25. Advertising for Molson Canadian is done by Bensimon Byrne D'Arcy of Toronto. Public relations for Molson are handled by Thornley Fallis Communications, also of Toronto.
