AMEX BANK OF CANADA DEBUTS TIGER WOODS CREDIT CARD
By Adnews Staff
Amex Bank of Canada has teamed up with golfer Tiger Woods to create a American Express Tiger Woods credit card. Woods has been a spokesperson for American Express since 1997. This is the first time he has allowed his name to be used on a product, the company said. Amex has also partnered with ClubLink, Golf Town and ScoreGolf to offer cardholders various incentives such as free rounds of golf and discounts on cart rentals, golf lessons, golf apparel and equipment. Woods will attend a launch event on May 27 at Toronto Islands. Tickets will be distributed through special promotions over the next few weeks. Promotional workers called the "AMEX Caddy Crew" will promote the card by distributing scratch and win cards on Toronto streets. Recipients can win tickets to the event and other golf prizes. MacLaren Momentum of Toronto is handling these promotional activities and the launch party. Advertising for the card will break on May 27. Radio, print and billboard advertising by Ogilvy & Mather will promote the card as being "as unique as the man who inspired it." Public relations for the launch of the card are being handled by Hill & Knowlton.
