ONTARIO GOVERNMENT TO SPEND $250,000 ON GOLF TOURISM

The Ontario government is teaming up with Canadian Golf Tourism Alliance, the Canadian Tourism Commission to support golf tourism in Ontario. As part of its support, the government will spend $250,000 on various marketing campaigns, including $75,000 put toward a direct mail campaign in New York, Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania. Also, $125,000 will be spent on 380,000 inserts called "Ontario Golf Trails" to be distributed in Golf magazine in the same four states. The government will also partner with the Canadian Tourism Commission to spend $50,000 on a newspaper and radio advertising campaign in Buffalo and Rochester. According to Tim Hudak, minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, there are more than 600 public golf courses in Ontario. "This marketing campaign will help attract golfers to Ontario and continue to diversify our tourism product here in the province," he said.
