MICROCELL TELECOMMUNICATIONS TO CONSOLIDATE SUBSIDIARIES

Montreal-based Microcell Telecommunications plans to consolidate the personal communications services operations of its subsidiaries Microcell Connexions Inc. and Microcell Solutions Inc. The latter handles sales and marketing for Microcell's Fido brand while the former owns the wireless network Fido uses. Alain Rheaume, president and chief executive officer of Microcell PCS, said the decision to consolidate these operations represents a natural evolution of the PCS division. The division was created in February 2001. As a result of the consolidation the position of president and chief operating officer of each subsidiary will be eliminated.
