CANADIAN TOURISM COMMISSION EXTENDS MARKETING CAMPAIGN

The Canadian Tourism Commission has extended its national marketing campaign. The campaign, created by BCP of Montreal, began in November with television, print and online advertising encouraging Canadians to travel within Canada. A second phase of the campaign began in late January with another series of television spots also using the "There's no place like home" theme. A 60-second cinema ad appeared in Feb. 1 which will run in 786 Famous Players, Guzzo, Alliance and Galaxy movie theatres in Canada. Like the television advertising, the cinema spot features the voices of singers Jann Arden and Julie Massicotte. Jim Watson, president and chief executive officer of the Canadian Tourism Commission said, "Wave two of our campaign invites Canadians to discover the unique and diverse tourism products and experiences that abound in Canada." A similar marketing effort aimed at potential U.S. travellers in near-border states is also still underway.
