MOLSON RELEASES NEW CANADIAN SPOT

Montreal-based Molson has issued another "I Am Canadian" television ad. Called "Velvet Moose", it debuted yesterday. The 30-second spot depicts a Canadian backpacker stopping at a general store in Vermont to buy a souvenir. A spring-loaded moose head appears to be nodding the backpacker towards an attractive woman behind the counter. The backpacker approaches, but is shocked by the woman's bad teeth. The moose shakes his head and the backpacker leaves. A 15-second follow-up spot called "Diner" has also been created to promote an in-case Molson Canadian T-shirt giveaway beginning next week. In this ad, the backpacker is looking at his pictures over a cup of coffee when he encounters an attractive waitress with unclean teeth. Both spots were created by Bensimon Byrne D'Arcy of Toronto. Public relations for Molson are handled by Thornley Fallis Communications.
