SUPERPAGES.CA PREPARES NEED FOR SPEED PROMOTION

Dominion Information Services Inc. of Burnaby, BC is beginning a new interactive contest on its SuperPages.ca online directory. "The Need for Speed" promotion is a month-long initiative that will follow five fictitious characters in a series of races on the SuperPages.ca Web site. The intent is to encourage contestants to visit the site each day. The five characters in the contest are a ski champion, a kayaker, a race car driver, a mountain biker and a powerboat racer. To participate, contestants pick which racer they think will win each day. The contest will give away $60,000 in prizes. The grand prize is a trip for two to the Monte Carlo Grand Prix with $5,000 spending money. Instant daily and weekly prizes including Sony DVD players, mini disc players and Roots merchandise will also be available. Print and radio advertising as well as in-restaurant and in-bar materials in British Columbia and Alberta will promote the contest. Also, marketers will hand out bookmarks and newspapers wrapped with belly bands to commuters in high traffic pedestrian areas. The concept for "The Need for Speed" promotion and its supporting materials were created by Coastal Media Group of Vancouver. Public relations SuperPages.ca are handled by BenchMark Porter Novelli, also of Vancouver.
