By Adnews Staff
ABC Canada Literacy Foundation is promoting its upcoming Family Literacy Day with a multimedia public awareness campaign. The annual event is designed to promote the importance of reading and engaging in learning activities as a family. It takes place on Jan. 27 with activities and special community events planned across Canada. Posters, bookmarks, buttons, temporary tattoos, stickers, T-shirts and other promotional materials featuring the tagline "Learning is a family affair" have been created by Fire Engine Inc. of Toronto. They will be distributed through literacy organizations, schools and libraries across Canada in addition to the dealership network of Honda Canada, the founding sponsor of Family Literacy, and the retail outlets of Basics Office Products, Indigo Books Music and More and Chapters. Television and radio public service announcements and a series of black and white print ads are also promoting Family Literacy Day. Created by Brandworks Marketing Communications of Toronto the PSAs and print ads feature the theme "Learning can happen anywhere." ABC Canada has also received support from Captivate Network which is promoting Family Literacy Day with a banner ad on its elevator news network in Calgary, Vancouver and Toronto, from Bank of Montreal which is running the TV PSA on its electronic billboard in downtown Toronto and Viacom Outdoor which has donated transit advertising space in Toronto's King subway station. Online advertising in the form of banners ads will be seen on the Web sites of CanadaPost.ca, YellowPages.ca, Parents of Multiples Across Canada and Honda Canada.
