MSN INTRODUCES RRSP SITE
By Adnews Staff
MSN.ca is supporting the introduction of a new RRSP site with television and radio advertising and an online promotion. The site has been designed specifically for Canadians to assist them in making educated and informed decisions during the RRSP season. Three radio spots will present situations in which people call a hotline and ask the questions: "I was thinking of buying an RRSP that's an offshore fund, but do I need to get a boat," "I was thinking of getting into securities, but should I get into home security? Or maybe car alarms," and "Last year I invested mainly in small caps, and I think there's a big future in hats generally, especially in fezzes, but is that more foreign content than I need?" Each question is answered by an MSN Money expert. Radio advertising in Toronto will be accompanied by a national five-week television campaign. The spot is an updated version of an ad that ran in the fall called "The Golfinator." The spot shows a man taking delivery of a box that cost $1,599.99. The man is later seen strapped into a golf-swing machine. A voiceover says, "Just because you're not always smart with your money, doesn't mean you can't be mostly smart with your money." The ad ends with a tag for a contest called "$25 Grand in Your Hand" that consumers can enter by visiting MSN Money at <http://www.msn.ca>. The online contest is also being supported with banner advertising and a "pre-loader" which plays a video message when a user clicks to download a video clip on Tsn.ca, Excn.ca and thecomedynetwork.ca. MSN.ca's RRSP advertising campaign was created by MacLaren McCann of Toronto.
