COCA-COLA BREAKS TV ADVERTISING FOR DIET COKE WITH LEMON

Toronto-based Coca-Cola Ltd. has produced a new television spot for its Diet Coke with Lemon drink. The soda has been available in Canadian stores since October. The spot, created by Cossette Communication-Marketing, is the first advertising for the drink since its launch. Called "Turn Out the Light," it opens with a young woman arriving home with some groceries. She puts some lemons on a refrigerator shelf below of a can of Diet Coke. As she walks away she hears muffled noises from inside. She investigates but finds nothing. When she walks away the noises begin again. She opens the door and the noises stop. The viewer sees that the lemons have surrounded the can of Diet Coke. The woman leaves the kitchen and turns out the lights. The spot ends with the voiceover "Introducing new Diet Coke with Lemon, two irresistible tastes that were meant to be together." The English spot uses the song "Kiss you all over" by Exile, while the French version uses the song "I'd like to be with you my baby" by Boule Noire. A 12-second version of the ad will run on the Elevator News Network in Calgary and Toronto. Also, sampling programs at offices and grocery stores will begin this month.
