CANADIAN GARDENING ACQUIRES PLANT AND GARDEN

Canadian Gardening magazine has acquired the subscribers of Plant and Garden magazine from Annex Publishing & Printing of Tillsonburg, ON. Plant and Garden's last publication was its December 2001 issue. Subscribers to the 14-year-old magazine will start receiving Canadian Gardening with the February/March 2002 issue. Canadian Gardening is published seven times a year by Avid Media Inc. of Markham, ON and has a circulation of about 142,000. "We are never happy to see a Canadian magazine fold," said Jacqueline Howe, publisher of Canadian Gardening and president of Avid Media, "But we are pleased to ensure that gardeners who have been subscribers to Plant and Garden won't be left without their inspiration, information and gardening ideas for the coming season." She also maintained that advertisers looking to reach home and garden enthusiasts will see greater efficiency in their media buys with Canadian Gardening. Details regarding the acquisition were not disclosed.
