RESPONSIBLE GAMBLING COUNCIL CAMPAIGNS FOR AWARENESS
By Adnews Staff
The Toronto-based Responsible Gambling Council (Ontario) has brought back its campaign to raise awareness of treatment for adult gamblers. The campaign, called "Gambling Problem?" encourages Ontario residents with gambling problems to seek help through treatment agencies in their own communities. The campaign, operated in conjunction with Ontario Partners for Responsible Gambling, ran for the first time last spring. Bilingual, localized print ads will run for 11 weeks in daily and weekly newspapers. Created by Wolf Group of Toronto, the ads refer readers to the Ontario Problem Gambling Help Line and provide local information about where to get help. The print ads are being supported with posters and brochures, localized for 47 treatment agencies in Ontario. The materials use headlines such as "The Biggest Chance You Take Is Not Calling For Help." "Our goal was to create non-judgmental, informative advertising that empowers people to identify the problem and then seek help," said the council's director of prevention programs, Laurie Bell. "We know from the first round of ads that referrals to most local agencies picked up sharply."
