TOURISM TORONTO, ONTARIO TOURISM HOLD GETAWAY PROMOTION

Tourism Toronto and Ontario Tourism will kick-off the second annual Mix 'n' Match Getaway promotion on November 1. Developed to promote travel to Toronto during the fall and winter seasons, the promotion will run until March 31, 2002. Visitors pick a hotel from a list of 22 and Tourism Toronto creates a package for them. This year's Mix 'n' Match Getaway Guide also includes a scratch card with which travellers can win shopping sprees, free hotel stays and special offers for city attractions, museums, special events and restaurants. The 2001/2002 guides were created by Axmith McIntyre Wicht of Toronto and will be distributed as inserts in major daily newspapers in border states including New York and Michigan. An advertising campaign consisting of radio and television from BBDO Canada will also run in New York, Michigan and Ontario, encouraging consumers to call Tourism Toronto or visit <http:www.torontotourism.com> for a Getaway Guide. According to Tricia Hosking, media relations manager for Tourism Toronto, a second advertising blitz will run in the new year.
