NIKE CANADA DEBUTS PRESTOS LINE

Nike Canada, based in Thornhill, ON, is promoting the launch of its new Prestos line with a multimedia advertising campaign from Cossette Communication-Marketing of Toronto. The slip-on shoes come in a number of styles and use a stretch-fit mesh that molds to a variety of foot shapes and sizes. In Canada Nike Prestos are available at sporting goods retailers. Advertising broke last week using the tagline, "You'll Use Your Feet For Everything." Three 30-second and 15-second television spots, running on MuchMusic, MusiquePlus and other teen programming, portray various sports as played by Presto fans who prefer to compete with their feet. In one, a jockey chooses to run a horse race without his horse. In the second, a motorcross rider leaves his bike at home so he can race on foot. In the third a swimmer runs along the bottom of the pool. Television advertising is being accompanied by outdoor executions and a Presto Web site at <http://www.nike.ca>. Sampling programs will also take place in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal, giving consumers the chance to try on a pair of Prestos. Every consumer who participates in the program will receive a contest card with an ID number that can be entered at the Nike.ca site. The company will give away 100 pairs of Prestos to winning cardholders. Advertising will run until early September. Public relations for Nike Canada are handled by Thornley Fallis Communications of Toronto.
