ALTOIDS HOSTS CURIOUS SAMPLING PARTY
By Adnews Staff
Altoids mints, distributed in Canada by Jacobs Fuchard Canada of Toronto, is kicking-off its summer sampling season with a "A Night of Curiosities" at the Joker Night Club in downtown Toronto tonight. The event will feature a costume contest based on the "Pleasure in Pain" and "Nice Altoids" characters in the brand's print advertising. Those who arrive at the party dressed as one of the characters will be entered into a contest to win a trip for two to Peru with G.A.P. Adventures. A random draw of all the ballots received will determine the five semi-finalists. The grand prize winner will be chosen by the audience. Previous components to the brand's marketing activities have included promotional contests with Eye magazine and Toronto radio station Energy FM to award readers and listeners with tickets to this event. This will be the second consecutive year for the Altoid's summer sampling program in Canada. Advertising for Altoids is done by Leo Burnett. Public relations are handled by Langdon Starr Ketchum of Toronto.
